Yes, not sending a notice was my decision. I actually stand by it too. The main complaint I got was that it was super long. Now imagine how much longer it would have been had I sent proper notice.

i like the journey aspect to it, i would love to see more traps and hazards that forced players to either cooperate, or turn on each other, the little gobs where neat, i'd love to see it get more nefarious next time

True, but you'd also have fewer people joining in while it's in play. Really up to you, just was a bit of an "oh shit, something's going on" kinda thing for me.
