We have created events in the past for specific levels i.e. Street level, and we have given players plot devices to take on the bad guy. Sir Jerry had an army of cloned, mutant, XYZian aliens for example in the Shiva event. I would say that in terms of story, the strength of your character is really down to how you play them and common sense. Is Sir Jerry going to take on demon Czar one on one. Nope, he'd be killed within in a round. Is he going to raise an army IC and even the odds? Yes!
"I can remember, standing by the wall. The guns, shot above our heads, and we kissed, as though nothing could fall. And the shame was on the other side. Oh we can beat them forever and ever. Then we could be heroes just for one day."

Strong is not as tough as you think he is :p

Doc, I am in and will try to attend and I bet it will be fun and that is what it is about. Also it is a different way and things shall at least be tried. Also the way you announce it is based on mutual consent so everything should be fine if your asking me :)

'Irene' is pretty much street level to keep her identity discrete ..self imposed limits
"The nerve of... Ugh!"- Celeste
"Our enemy is never as evil as we imagine." - Katyusha
"Utterly' is my favorite way to destroy something." - Alecta
"Turn your wounds into wisdom" - Anna
"..." - Eventide

We do see some powergaming and then counter-powergaming. (Example: "Well, he/she shouldn't be able to avoid this, so I'm going to avoid that even though I shouldn't be able to, so it's fair". This is wrong btw. There's no "make up calls". If someone is not playing fair, you speak to them and try and come to an understanding)

Free form RP is collaborative storytelling, with maybe 20% "Verbal chessmatch". Some people do put achieving their character's goals (or just having their character shine) as the priority over telling the best story. (According to some, playing a 'strong' character, I'm not immune myself.) Dice CAN be an effective way of removing pride from the equation.
This is exectly the big problem I always had with free form rp and its really hard to make it work smoothly unless the people rping know each other and agree on how the powers work. We all saw an anime, cartoon, comic ect where we take the "mechanic" of our powers from if you run into someone that saw a diffrent one or just made up his own then thats where arguments start because one person when they think super speed they think the flash who moves around super fast leaving a trail behind.. while the other person is the anime fan that is used to super speed pretty much being teleportation by "Flash Stepping" moving so fast in a single instand they dissapear and reappear behind there opponent. This can get even worse if one of the person has never seen or ever heard of the other's person's definition of the power.

This is where for me dice system rp really shines cause people cant make things up on the fly they all get there things from the same book so everyone know whats going on when something happens and the balance of those systems prevents things like making thing up so your character wont loose.

Recently someone wanted to rp with me and showed me there character sheet.. one of the entry was a tech helmet a line saying " Makes person immune to mind control including siren voice manipulation. Not only did they just had that so there character had even less weaknesses probably cause said mind control happened to them before but they could NOT be bothered to even come up with some fluff as to how the helmet works and makes that immunity happen.

Immunity to mind control is something we just give anyone who wants it. It's basically to prevent people having to do a kinky scene that they don't care for ... (And Mind-Control itself is a kink that many people dislike. I've enjoyed doing it, but some of my favorite people to play with hate even suggesting it because it interferes with their ability to play their character )

But generally, this is why I am suggesting people make their powers really easy to understand. If it takes 200 words to explain... It's too complex.

Sims I've been in with Dice are usually the ones where everyone is so obnoxiously OP and godmode all the time that it's necessary to ensure a fight between a man with no powers can be beaten by the eighth lord of hell cometh to destroy earf with his billion minions. They're never fun systems, and usually have some pretty hilarious people using them to mess around (couple of us had dice to dictate our actions at the bar, stuff like "Such and such attempts to take a drink and rolls a 10 vs the required 20. The drink misses). The last sim I was at had dice, and it was a nightmare as A) no one knew how to use it and B) everyone hated it. Also, you had to turn in RP cards for points in order to get levels for a modifier so you could level up and such. Really, I've never seen a dice system work effectively on a sim to the point where I enjoyed it or to where very many people enjoyed it.

Yeah thats something that is a huge issue with free form as well.. the problem being everyone wants to be the star/main character of the story but not everyone wants to be somekind of god with earth shattering powers. And I know in most cases those "Lord Of Hell" people tend to be the ones who try to do everyday rp the most.. wich they just cannot fit in every well without annoying a bunch of people.. character like these in roleplay settings or comicbooks are those very rare encounters cause there people of insane powers that would require there own story arc to stop.. having them walking around going to Mc Donald and bullying people who just havent been obnoxious enough to pick those kind of powers cause well thats there idea of roleplaying apparently just makes big rifts in rp communities.

but yeah I agree dice dosent work too well on SL you need a full system for it to work and most people cannot be bothered to learn that stuff

And for the full system, you'd need to have stat sheets. And from there, the character system becomes much more complicated, which in turn alienates current players and discourages newcomers. RP'd in quite a few sims before that REQUIRE you to go to classes to learn their dice system and how to create a character. I can get that in DnD where the ultimate goal of the night is often some lofty "kill the Arch-Dragon of Eastburn and save Middle Earth from its evil." But in the day to day, a system like this can be incredibly tiring when we have to roll for speech checks in order to talk to someone on the street. Now, obviously this is an extreme example, but dice sims I've played in always seem to collapse for one reason or another. And a lot of the time, the good RPers are the first to go.

Just for the record Doc Portal does not want everyne to use it just to use it for an event as far as I got it. People who like the idea and to not mind a bit more complexion can join others can stand aside This idea of hers is based on mutual consent of those who join.

Talista it might get tireing to role for everything thats why a I as a GM never let people role for everything, there are simple things people can do without any role but depending on the system you are using such a role is very quickly done and the more simple the rules the better.

Suggestion: There are plenty of game Systems that SImplify things for dice rolls.

If you couple them with the Lismore RPG hud you can always just roll then add the appropriate descriptor bonuses

We try to keep things more actual RP based so outcomes are determined by what is best for the story and not chance. Plus the less HUDs the better. If a couple people want to use dice between them that is up to those people but it will not be a sim wide thing.

Using Dice etc to determine outcomes tends to create a competitive sort of mindset. "I want to win this dice roll. I want to build up my bonus so I win more dice rolls". Really, what we want is collaborative storytelling where both, or all, are happy with whatever is posted, and people write with a mind towards making a satisfying story.

I HATE DICE! Though I do use them to determine Galaxia's powerset but thats the way I wrote her up.

Your Dice for Galaxia are how you introduce the random nature of her powerset into the RP. It's something you're doing for you, not something we make you do.

If you wanted to just say "Meh, 4" and not use a dice tool, no one would really complain. If you rolled a 10 every time, that might be a problem. lol.

Yes I had originally planned to use whatever power to fit the situation since ICly she can tap into any of the planets. Went with the dice roll to prevent any drama as now it's completely random.
