CHARACTER'S BACKSTORY :
Will grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, the only son of wealthy parents. As far as he knew, his father never had any sort of job, simply living off the family inheritance. Will breezed through life, with private boarding schools followed by Harvard undergrad and then its Law School. On the surface, all was going well.
Behind the scenes, his parents and their associates could see that Will had some issues he was working on. First there was the gardener's daughter, who went missing one day. The grounds-keeping staff stopped everything to search the grounds for her, only for her to be discovered tightly bound in a little used carriage house while Will worked her over. The family had been forced to arrange for a quick deportation of the gardener's family to avoid a scandal.
The next incident occurred while Will was attending a prestigious boarding school and was more challenging to resolve. Will was shocked to discover his actions nearly led to actual consequences! At an annual ball shared with a neighboring all-girls school, Will made contact with a student from the other school. Smitten by her, he arranged a date. Little did she know how long Will intended for this first date to last.
It was nearly two months before the girl was found, having spent that entire time as Will's bound captive in a rustic rental cabin in the woods. The story made all the newspapers, causing no end of suffering for Will's parents. Fortunately, due to the girl's mental state upon her rescue, the police reports actually implicating Will were shaky at best. Even more fortunately, the girl was a scholarship student from a poor family. For an undisclosed sum, the family elected not to press charges and the story eventually disappeared.
Will learned two important lessons from this incident. First, he learned that his family name and wealth could protect him, but that even they had limits. Secondly, he learned that money, and the need for it, could create its own sort of control. Throughout college and law school he resisted his most primal urges, instead feeding them by experimenting with what he could get people to do for money.
After law school, Will went to work as a prosecutor. While many parts of the job were more tedious than he had expected, he got a special thrill from the cases where he knew he was prosecuting the innocent. Watching someone taken away from the courthouse in chains for a crime he knew they did not commit was almost as fun as the activities he'd enjoyed earlier in life.
He eventually became the District Attorney for a major city, running on a campaign to "clean up" the city's costumed vigilantes. This was a perfect opportunity for him, punishing those who were only actually trying to do good for the world.
And then, everything changed on the trip to Celestial City. Upon his arrival in the city, he discovered that the trip had changed him and made him able to control energy. This would certainly lead to some new opportunities. After getting his bearings, he joined the VIPer Club and set up shop as an attorney specializing in defending metahumans.
POWERS: List your character's powers, and describe the limits of the powers (i.e. Super strength: hits with 10 tons maximum blunt force). If you need ideas, go to the following website: http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/List ... _Abilities
1. Energy Control: Will is able to re-direct and control energy. He cannot absorb or destroy that energy, or change its form, but he can control where it is directed. For example, if a police officer fired a bullet at him, he could take control of the kinetic energy propelling the bullet to turn it a different direction or even back at the shooter. He could not, however, stop the bullet in mid-air. He is still learning the full use of this power, and is able to manipulate approximately 10 tons worth of force. He can control only one event at a time.
2. Force Field: While he is able to only intentionally manipulate one source of energy at a time, it seems that he has constant subconscious effect on the area directly around him. Unless he intentionally lowers this ability, his power will work to repel any contact that would otherwise have been made on him at all times. For example, if an old college buddy were to attempt to come up behind him and give him a pat on the back, the closer he got, the more he would feel his own efforts pushing back on him. This force field is not as strong as his full power, and will push back up to a single ton's worth of force.
WEAKNESSES (Unless otherwise stated, you have all normal human weaknesses):
1. Line of sight: To use his power, Will must be able to see the source of the energy he is trying to control. Caught unaware, only the passive force field can be brought to use.
2. Hunger for control: Will has an insatiable desire to control others. This appetite can often cause him to make rash and impulsive decisions.
Will suppressed a smile as he stood at the podium, the bank of microphones waiting to transmit his every word. The image of the once-proud heroine being led from the courtroom was still etched in his mind, heavy power-dampening restraints locked to her wrists and ankles. "The people of this fine city can now rest easy at night," he spoke into the microphones with a stern gaze out over the crowd. "No longer will we permit powerful and unlicensed dangers to cause untold damage to our city and subvert the true cause of justice."
Day Job (Optional):
After arriving in Celestial City, Will quickly found his opportunity. He is the owner of Meta/Human Law, a firm specializing in the defense of metahumans accused of breaking the law, whether they are heroes or villains. He plans to use this position to gain information regarding those same metahumans that he can then use for his own purposes.
